Fastest Century in IPL For Punjab Kings

Jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul, Punjab Kings have participated in all 15 seasons of the IPL but have not lifted the title. The Punjab franchise included many power hitters from overseas and domestically but they have not been able to capture the IPL trophy ultimately. Currently, the leadership of Punjab is handled by Shikhar Dhawan in 2023 under the coaching of Trevor Bayliss. David Miller, a  former South African batsman, is sitting at the top position for making the fastest century in IPL for Punjab Kings. He faced just 38 balls in order to achieve this feat while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2013. In the 51st match of the IPL 2013, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings faced each other on 06 May 2013 in Mohali. Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to field first. While batting first, RCB added 190 runs on the scoreboard. In reply, Punjab did not get a good start and they lost 3 quick wickets but David Miller at number 5th position played incredibly and contributed crucial 101 runs from 38 balls that helped them to win the match by 6 wickets. Thus, David Miller made the record of the fastest 100 in IPL for Punjab and also became the Man of the Match & Most Valuable Player in that match. 

 

  1. Mayank Agrawal

Mayank Agrawal is in the number 2 position for making the fastest century for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. He achieved this feat in just 45 balls while playing against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020. The 9th match of the IPL 2020 was played between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in Sharjah on 27 Sep 2020 where Rajasthan Royals invited Punjab to bat first after winning the toss. Punjab openers started well and struck 183 runs for the first wicket partnership. Mayank Agrawal contributed 106 runs from 50 balls with ten 4s and seven 6s at a strike rate of 212.00 which assisted them to cross the 200+ milestone. In reply, Rajasthan also batted well and chased the target in 19.3 overs, unfortunately, Mayank Agrawal's effort was wasted but he became the Most Valuable Player of the game. 

 

  1. Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha, a wicketkeeper-batter, is listed in the 3rd position for making the fastest century in IPL for Punjab Kings. He made this effort from 49 balls while performing against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final competition of IPL 2014. Punjab reached the final in the 2014 edition of IPL where they faced Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru on 01 June 2014. Kolkata won the toss and decided to field first. While batting first, Punjab Kings did not start well as they lost two quick wickets but Wriddhiman Saha at the number 4th position handled the conditions and added crucial 115 runs from 55 balls that helped Punjab to add a respectable total of 199 runs on the scoreboard. In reply, Kolkata got an average start but they maintained the required run rate and achieved the target in 19.3 overs. Despite Punjab losing the final, Wriddhiman Saha became the Most Valuable Player of the game. 

 

  1. Virendra Sehwag

The former Indian all-rounder Virendra Sehwag is standing in the number 4th position for making the fastest century in IPL for Punjab Kings. He achieved this feat from 50 balls while playing in a match against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2014. Punjab and Chennai faced each other in the 2nd Qualifier match of the IPL 2014 in Wankhede Stadium on 30 May 2014. Chennai won the toss and invited Punjab to bat first, and then the opening batter of Punjab, Virendra Sehwag struck 122 runs from 58 deliveries with twelve 4s and eight 6s at a strike rate of 210.34. This incredible strike of Sehwag helped Punjab to reach a total of 226 and when Chennai came out to chase the target, they could make 202 runs. Thus, Punjab won the match by 24 runs and Virendra Sehwag was chosen Man of the Match for an excellent effort with the bat.

 

  1. Paul Valthaty

Paul Valthaty is sitting at the number 5th position for making the fastest century in IPL for Punjab Kings. He struck 100 runs from just 52 deliveries while playing against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2011. In the 9th competition of the IPL 2011 in Mohali on 13 April 2011, CSK faced Punjab Kings where CSK got the chance to bat first and they added a total of 188 runs on the scoreboard. In reply, Paul Valthaty along with Adam Gilchrist came out to the middle to chase the target and Paul played an incredible innings of unbeaten 120 runs from 63 balls that helped them to get the target in 19.1 overs. Throughout the entire inning, Paul Valthaty struck nineteen 4s and two 6s at a strike rate of 190.47 and thus he became the Man of the Match and Most Valuable Player of the game.
