South African batting over powers Ireland in Pool B match - The 24th match of the World cup was being played between South Africa and Ireland. The South Africans were looking dangerous while Irish team had impressed all with their performance in the tournament. It was a match between two unequals in terms of cricket but in the present tournament the associate nations were coming in hard. After winning the toss South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first.

Batting first Quinton de Kock lost his wicket after scoring only 1 run for the team. Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis had some other plans in mind. They wanted to come out with some good batting practice and both the players scored some good amount of runs for the team. Plessis after scoring 109 runs lost his wicket in the 39th over leaving his team at a score of 259 runs. Amla lost his wicket after scoring 159 runs. He left the team after scoring 299/3 in 42nd over. AB de Villiers scored 24 runs in 9 balls while the partnership of David Miller and Rilee Rossouw scored 46 and 61 runs respectively to take the team to a score of 411 runs in 50 overs.

Ireland needed one of their performances to produce a victory in this match. The batsmen needed some great hands to make sure that they come even close to the match winning score. The Irish failed drastically in their move to win the match as they lost too many wickets up early in the innings. It was only Andy Balbirine and Kevin O’Brien who scored some runs for the team. They scored 58 and 48 runs respectively else the rest of the team was unable to score much as they lost all the wickets at a score of 210 runs. With this South Africa won the match by 201 runs and Hashim Amla was named as the man of the match for taking his team to victory.
