Denesh Ramdin takes Guyana to their first victory in the CPL 2014 - The first match of the Caribbean Premiere League for the season 2014 was played between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Antigua Hawksbills. The game was played in St George’s stadium where after winning the toss Amazon Warriors decided to field first. The Hawksbills got a good start from the openers. After scoring 38 runs in 21 balls Ben Dunk lost his wicket in the 6th over leaving his team to a score of 40/1. Later Shacaya Thomas and Denza Hyatt took the team past 100 run mark in the 14th over of the match. The team after some great start was looking for some quick runs in the end but failed to do so. The middle order collapsed managing to reach a score of a mere 136 in the end of 20 overs. The team lost 6 wickets in the end over managing to score only 36 runs in last 6 overs. Sunil Narine was the man for the Amazon warriors who managed to give only 3 runs in his 4 overs. On the other hand Jimmy Neesham took 3 wickets in the end to stop the visitors to score high runs.

The Amazon Warriors had a bad start as both the openers fell in the first two over of the game. Mohammad Hafeez and Denesh Ramdin took their team to a score of 67 in 10 overs. Hafeez after scoring 35 runs lost his wicket. The team scored 100 runs in 14 overs losing 4 wickets. The home team faced yet another problem when they lost 3 quick wickets which included the wicket of Ramdin. He scored 51 runs before getting out and it was his innings that helped the team is reaching the target successfully in 19.3 overs. Sheldon Cottrell was the top bowler taking 3 wickets giving away 24 runs. Ramdin was awarded the man of the match award for his brilliant batting.
