Danza Hyatt and Muralitharan write an epic victory for the Tallawahs - After losing two consecutive Caribbean Premiere League matches the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steels played their first home game against the Jamaica Tallawahs. The Tallawahs previously out of the two matches played won one and lost one. After winning the toss the Red Steel decided to field first. Chris Gayle and Ahmed Shehzad gave the Tallawahs a good 44 run opening stand. Shehzad after scoring 20 runs lost his wicket. Soon the good start achieved by the Tallawahs was wasted by the middle order batsmen. The team from 44/1 crashed to 81/5 in just 15 overs. The last 5 overs of the innings saw some brilliant batting from Danza Hyatt and Vernon Philander. Hyatt scored 42 runs from just 26 balls and Philander scored 23 off just 8 balls. Both these batsmen helped the team to reach a score of 146 in just 20 overs. Samuel Badree was the pick of the bowler as he managed to bowl with the economy of 3.50.

The home team after losing the wicket of Kevin O’Brien in the 2nd over were in a cruise mode marching towards the victory. Adrian Barath and Ross Taylor were the two batsmen those together stitched together a 62 run stand taking the team to 67 run before Barath lost his wicket. It was Chris Gayle’s magical over that took the wicket of dangerous Taylor. As Taylor the match departed and the flow of run was stopped. The ace off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan made it difficult for the home side to score runs; he gave away only 14 runs in his 4 overs taking 1 wicket. His magical spell helped his team win the match by 5 runs. The home team managed to score only 141 runs. Danza Hyatt was named the man of the match for the outstanding batting performance.
