The 13th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League was played between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat at The Gabba Stadium on 23 Dec 2020. Brisbane Heat won the toss and they decided to field first. Jake Weatherald and Phil Salt came to open from Strikers side. Xavier Bartlett got the new ball.

Strikers lost their 1st wicket in the first over at the score of 2 runs only. It was not a good start for STR. Then Matt Renshaw came to join Salt and both batsmen played well. They made a partnership of 60 runs for their team. Salt and Renshaw were looking good but Steketee dismissed both of them in the 9th over. Strikers were under pressure as they lost their 2 quick wickets. A crucial partnership of 57 runs from 39 balls between Wells and Nielsen helped STR to add a total of 150 runs to the scoreboard. Xavier Bartlett bowled well for their team and took 3 wickets in his over.

Brisbane Heat needed 152 runs from 120 balls to register a victory in the 13th T20 BBL 2020. Sam Heazlett and Max Bryant came to chase the target and Daniel Worrall got the new ball. It was a poor start for Heat as they lost a couple of wickets at the score of 2 runs only. Bryant and Lawrence tried to handle the situation. But Rashid Khan and Danny Briggs performed well with the ball and dismissed half of the team at the score of 37 runs only. Danny Briggs took 3 wickets and Rashid Khan took 2 wickets in the match.

On the other hand, Jimmy Peirson played a captain’s inning for his team of unbeaten 69 runs from just 36 balls but could not win the match. Adelaide Strikers won the match by 2 runs. Jimmy Peirson was awarded the Man of the Match.
