The 18th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League was played between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers at Carrara Oval, Queensland on 29 Dec 2020. Renegades captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bat first. Beau Webster and Jack Prestwidge were the X-factor players for Renegades. Gurinder Sandhu and Lloyd Pope were selected as X-Factor players for Sydney Sixers. Captain Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh came on the crease to open. Holder got the new ball to attack.

It was a decent start for Melbourne and they made 34 runs at no loss in the mandatory powerplay. Renegades lost the first wicket in the 10th over at the score of 75 runs. Finch was sent back by Christian and he made 39 runs. Sam Harper came to join Marsh and added some important runs to the scoreboard. Shaun Marsh played really well and he made 67 runs from 52 balls. Finally, Renegades made 168 runs in 20 overs at the loss of 6 wickets. Sydney Sixers got a challenging target of 169 runs in 20 overs.

Josh Philippe and Jack Edwards started the inning and Kane Richardson got the new ball. Both the openers gave a wonderful start to their team and made 43 runs at no loss in the first powerplay. Peter Hatzoglou dismissed Edwards and took the first wicket in the 6th over for his team. Then James Vince came to join Philippe but Renegades lost Philippe at the score of 76 runs in the 10th over. Philippe was looking good with the bat but missed his half-century by 2 runs. He made 48 runs from 30 balls. Jason Holder at number 7 played superb shots and made crucial 33 runs from 18 balls. The unbeaten 33 runs of Holder helped Sixers to achieve the target with 19.5 overs. It was a tremendous victory for the Sixers by 2 wickets. 

Jason Holder was the Man of the Match for his brilliant performance with both bat & ball.
