The 20th T20 match of the Big Bash League 2020-21 was played between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat at The Gabba Stadium on 30 Dec 2020. Brisbane Heat won the toss and invited the Hurricanes to bat first. Matt Kuhnemann & Jack Sinfield were the X-Factor players for Heat and Mac Wright & Nick Winter were selected as X-factor subs for Hurricanes. Short & McDermott came to open for Hurricanes and Bartlett got the new ball to attack.

It was a poor start for Hurricanes and they lost Short in the very first over at no runs. Short was dismissed at duck by Bartlett. Then Dwaid Malan walked out to join McDermott and handle the situation. Hurricanes made 27 runs in their first mandatory powerplay at the loss of 1 wicket. After the powerplay, Mujeeb Ur Rahman brought into the attack and he dismissed McDermott in the 5th over. Mujeeb Ur Rahman bowled really well and took 5 wickets in the match. TH David at number 6 played some good shots and contributed important 36 runs from 17 balls for his team. Hurricanes finally made 150 runs in 19.4 overs and gave a target of 151 runs to Heat.

M Bryant & Sam Heazlett came on the ground to chase the target and the new ball was given to Riley Meredith. Hurricanes needed some early wickets and Meredith did the job in his first over. Heazlett was sent back by Meredith in the first over. Then Scott Boland in the next over took the wicket of Wildermuth. Two batsmen at duck were sent back by the Hurricanes bowlers. The heat was under pressure and needed a partnership but nothing was happening good to them and they lost Cooper also in the 3rd over. Brisbane lost his 3 wickets at the score of 8 runs only. James Bazley tried well and made unbeaten 49 runs from 31 balls. But Brisbane Heat could not achieve the target and lost the match. It was an excellent bowling performance by HOH and won the match by just 1 run.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the Man of the Match for his best bowling performance. He took 5 wickets for Brisbane Heat in the match.
