The 14th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League 2020/21 was played between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades at Manuka Oval Stadium in Canberra on 26th Dec 2020. Chris Tremain and Arjun Nair were the X-factor subs for Thunder. Jack Prestwidge and Mackenzie Harvey were X-factor subs for Melbourne Renegades.
Renegades won the toss and invited Thunder to bat first. Khawaja and Hales came to open for Sydney Thunder and Will Sutherland got the new ball. Khawaja and Hales started the inning very well and they made 50 runs at the end of the first power play. Both batsmen were looking in good form but Nabi dismissed Khawaja in the 6th over. Hales was also sent back by Peter Hatzoglou in the next over. Callum Ferguson and Oliver Davis were on the crease after a couple of wickets. Oliver played a wonderful inning of 48 runs from just 23 balls and finally, Thunder made 209 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the 20 overs.
Melbourne Renegades required 210 runs in 20 overs to win the match. Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch came to chase the target. Adam Milne was given the new ball. It was a bad start for the Renegades as they lost their first wicket at the score of 7 runs in the 3rd over. Then Sam Harper joined Aaron Finch but could not handle the pressure and he also lost his wicket. Finally, Renegades were all out at the score of 80 runs only. No batsmen crossed two digits except Finch (20 runs) and Rossouw (17 runs).
Sydney registered a big victory over Renegades by 129 runs. Oliver Davis was the top scorer for Thunder and Tanveer Sangha took 4 wickets from his 3.2 overs. Oliver Davis was declared Player of the Match.
