The 16th T20 match of KFC Big Bash League was played between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat at Brisbane Cricket Ground, Woolloongabba, Brisbane on 27 Dec 2020. Heat won the toss and invited the Hurricanes to bat first. Matt Kuhnemann, Simon Milenko were X-Factor subs for Heat, and Keemo Paul, Johan Botha for Hurricanes. D’Arcy Short and Ben McDermott were on the crease to open for Hurricanes. Xavier Bartlett got the new ball.

It was a slow start for Hurricanes and they made 24 runs at the loss of 1 wicket at the end of mandatory power play. McDermott was dismissed at the fuller length ball of Wildermuth. Dawid Malan came to join Short and both batsmen added some runs to the scoreboard. But Lewis Gregory dismissed two batsmen of Hurricanes in the 10th over at the score of 66 runs. Lewis Gregory took 3 important wickets for his team and stopped Hurricanes at 148 runs only. Brisbane Heat needed 149 runs from 120 balls to win the match. Short was the top scorer for Hurricanes and made 27 runs from 20 balls.

Max Bryant and Sam Heazlett came to chase the target. James Faulkner got the new ball in hand. James Faulkner had to leave the ground because of an injury in his right hamstring. It was not a good sign for the Hurricanes. Brisbane openers took the advantage and both players made a partnership of 73 runs. Brisbane lost his first wicket at the score of 73 runs and then Dan Lawrence came to bat. But Dan Lawrence was dismissed at duck by Short. Heazlett played really well and made 48 runs from just 27 balls with one 4s and five 6s. The game was under the control of Heat and they achieved the target easily in 17.2 overs.

Lewis Gregory was the Player of the Match for his excellent bowling performance in the match. He took 3 wickets and gave only 22 runs from his 4 overs. Sam Heazlett was the top scorer for the Heat.
