Brisbane did not start well and lost the first of Max Bryant at the score of 16 runs only in 1.5 overs. After the dismissal, Marnus Labuschagne came on the crease to join Lynn. Both batsmen tried well to maintain the run rate and scored 35 runs at the end of the first mandatory Powerplay.
