The 35th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League was played between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers at Carrara-Oval, Queensland on 10 Jan 2021. Sidney Sixers won the toss and they decided to bowl first. Max Bryant and Chris Lynn were on the crease to open for Brisbane Heat. Steve O’Keefe got the new ball in hand.
The starting was not good for the Heat and they lost their first wicket in the second over at the score of 19 runs only. Bryant was sent back by Jackson Bird and then Joe Denly came to join Chris Lynn. Brisbane came under pressure when they lost the three wickets at the score of 43 runs only. Chris Lynn played a much needed and responsible inning of 56 runs from 44 balls. Lewis Gregory at the number 6th position also supported Lynn and made crucial 26 runs. After the wicket of Chris Lynn, the whole team could not control the situation and were bowled out at 148 runs. Sidney Sixers got the target of 149 runs from 120 balls.
Josh Philippe and Jack Edwards were sent to chase the target. Xavier Bartlett got the new ball to open the attack. Both openers could not give a good start to the team and lost the first wicket at the score of 7 runs only. Sydney Sixers had lost their 4 wickets very early at the score of 54 runs only and came under pressure. Then Daniel Hughes and Daniel Christian played nicely and built a much-needed partnership of 72 runs. Daniel Christian played a match-winning inning for his team and made not out 61 runs from 38 balls. Daniel Hughes also made a contribution of 51 runs from just 35 balls for the Sixers.
Sydney Sixers achieved the target and won the match by 3 wickets. Daniel Christian was the Man of the Match.
