The 10th edition of Big Bash league has started from 10th December 2021 and the first match of the league was played between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers. The match was played at Bellerive Oval, Hobart. Peter Handscomb is the captain of Hobart Hurricanes whereas Daniel Hughes is the captain of Sydney Sixers. Daniel Hughes won the toss and invited Hobart Hurricanes to bat first.

It was not a good start for the Hobart Hurricanes and they lost their first wicket at the second ball of Manenti in the very first over. Colin Ingram came to bat after the loss of the first wicket. After the first over, Hurricanes were at the score of 4 runs at the loss of 1 wicket. Ben Dwarshuis started the second over with an amazing delivery and sent D’Arcy Short back to the pavilion. He was caught at the first sleep. Then Peter Handscomb came to join Colin Ingram and made a 50 runs partnership with Ingram. But Handscomb lost his wicket in the 9th over at the score of 59 runs. Mac Wright who came after the loss of 3rd wicket was caught by Jordan Silk in the deep. Then Tim David came to join Ingram.

Colin Ingram completed his half century from 40 balls in the 15th over. Then Dan Christian took the wicket of Colin Ingram and now the score was 114 at the fall of 5 wickets. Then no batsman did not contribute much runs but David played some amazing shots but he also lost his wicket at the score of 152. David made 59 runs from just 33 balls. Hurricanes made a total of 178 at the loss of 8 wickets in the 20 overs and set a target of 179 runs to win for Sydney Sixers.

Sydney Sixers began the second innings with a wicket. James Faulkner started the first over and took the wicket of Josh Philippe. James Vince came to join Edwards. Both the batsmen completed 50 runs partnership in the 7th over. Vince played well and completed its fifty off just 29 balls. Everything was going fine for the Sydney Sixers and both the batsmen completed their 100 runs partnership in the 12th over. Vince was dropped at the score of 110 runs in the 13th over. Hobart needed a wicket now and brought back Faulkner. Faulkner did not disappoint his captain and took the wicket of Vince in the 14th over. On the next over, Edwards was also sent back. Back to Back wickets in the 2 overs brought Hobart back into the game. 

Nobody could do well after the dismissal of Vince & Edwards and the team could make only 162 runs at the 6 wickets. Hobart won the match with 16 runs and started the journey with a victory.
