The 47th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League was fought between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne on 22 Jan 2021. After winning the toss, the Scorchers decided to bat first. Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone were sent to open for Perth. Riley Meredith got the new ball in hand to open the attack.

Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone could not give a good start and Perth had lost the first wicket at the score of 26 runs in 2.5 overs. Jason Roy started well with four 4s but could not last long and lost his wicket. Then Colin Munro came to join Livingstone but he was also sent back by Will Jacks in the 5th over. Perth was losing wickets at regular intervals but Josh Inglis played a much-needed inning of 58 runs at the number 4 position. Jhye Richardson also played well and made quick 29 runs from just 14 balls. Finally, Perth had put 179 runs on the scoreboard at the loss of 8 wickets. Hobart got the challenging target of 180 runs from 120 balls.

Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short came on the crease to chase the target. Jhye Richardson got the new ball in hand. In the starting, Short was looking good with his form but on the other side, wickets were falling, and Hurricanes had lost 3 wickets at the score of 33 runs only. The Hurricanes had come under the pressure and needed a partnership. Peter Handscomb showed some great effort but could not stay longer and was dismissed at the score of 77 runs. After the dismissal of Short, the Hurricanes gave up and the entire team could make 157 runs.

Perth Scorchers registered a victory in the 47th BBL2020-21 match and Jhye Richardson was the Man of the Match for his all-round performance. He took 4 wickets and made 29 runs off just 14 balls in the match.
