The 12th T20 match of KFC Big Bash League 2020 was played between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval Stadium in Canberra on 22 Dec 2020. Sydney Thunder won the toss and invited Scorchers to bat first. Josh Inglis and C Munro came to open the inning for Scorchers. The new ball was given to Adam Milne.

It was a slow start for Scorchers as they made only 22 runs at the end of the first mandatory power play. Inglis was struggling and finally lost his wicket in the 5th over. After the dismissal of Inglis, Joe Clarke came to join Munro but unfortunately, he was given run out at the same over. Munro was looking well but he was dismissed by Cutting in the 7th over. Mitchell Marsh handled the situation with A Turner for some duration and added some important runs to the scoreboard. M Marsh played well and his partnership with Turner & Bancroft set a target of 153 runs for Thunder. M Marsh made unbeaten 52 runs from 41 balls with one 4s and three 6s.

Sydney Thunder got the target of 153 runs from 120 balls. Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales opened for Thunder and Jason Behrendorff got the new ball. It was not a good start for Thunder and Hales was sent back at Duck. CJ Ferguson, the captain, came to join Khawaja and he played brilliantly. Ferguson made unbeaten 61 runs and made crucial partnerships of 75 runs with Davis.

Because of Ferguson’s inning, Sydney achieved the target very easily in the 19.3 overs with 3 balls left. Sydney Thunder won the 12th T20 by 7 wickets.

Callum Ferguson was declared the Player of the Match for his 621 runs from 53 balls.
