The 48th match of IPL 2020 was played between Bangalore and Mumbai on 28th October at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Mumbai Indians was led by Kieron Pollard while Royal Challengers Bangalore was led by Virat Kohli. MI won the toss and chose to field first.

From RCB Devdutt Padikkal and Josh Philippe started the inning and gave a grand start to the team. They both played fantastically and made good runs in the first powerplay. In the 8th over MI got its first breakthrough when Philippe lost his wicket at an individual score of 33 runs. Padikkal was joined by Virat Kohli, but soon he also got out. Hence in the 12th over the score of the team was 95/2. With the inning of Padikkal, it seemed the team would have a challenging score but soon the game changed as MI bowlers got some more wickets. At the score of 131 AB de Villiers got out in 16th over and he was followed by Shivam Dube and Padikkal in 17th over only. Hence it was no more possible for RCB to have a massive and challenging score for MI. At the end of 20 overs, RCB could make 164 runs at a loss of 6 wickets. From MI Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful bowler with 3 wickets. To win the game MI needed 165 runs in 20 overs.

From MI Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock initiated the inning but it cannot be termed as a firm start as de Kock got out in the 6th over only. The run rate was low, and hence with a fall of wicket MI was under pressure. Soon it got another jolt when in the 8th over Kishan also got out. Thus the score of the team was 52/2, and it looked like MI will lose the match. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Saurabh Tiwary tried to balance the inning and move the scoreboard but in the 11th over Tiwary got out and the next batsman Krunal Pandya also returned to the pavilion in 14th over. Yadav was joined by Hardik Pandya, and this pair changed the direction of the game. Yadav hit big shots, and Pandya also played well. In 19th over Pandya got out, but the team was close to winning. Hence Kieron Pollard and Yadav completed the formality. From RCB Mohammed Siraj and Yuzvendra Chahal got 2 wickets each. Suryakumar Yadav was declared as the player of the match for his inning of not out 79 runs in 43 balls.
