The final of the IPL 2020 was played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on 10 November at Dubai International Stadium. MI was captained by Rohit Sharma while DC was led by Shreyas Iyer. DC won the toss and chose to bat first.

The inning of DC was opened by Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan, but this opening pair failed to offer a good start. In the first over only Stoinis got out without making any run. The second fall of wicket was in the form of Ajinkya Rahane who had joined Dhawan. The score was 16/2. In the 4th over Shikhar Dhawan also got out which proved as a big jolt to the DC team. However, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant balanced the inning and made a good partnership which helped the team to have a good score. They made a partnership of 96 runs.

Meanwhile, Pant also completed his half-century. In the 15th over Pant also got out and Shimron Hetmyer joined the inning but he got out in the 18th over. Axar Patel joined Iyer, but he also could not sustain. At the end of 20 overs, the DC could make 156 at a loss of 7 wickets. From MI Trent Boult was the most successful bowler who got 3 wickets.

From MI Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock started the inning with a bang. In the 5th over de Kock got out and DC got its first breakthrough. Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma carried the inning ahead and played good cricket. In the 11th over Yadav got out at an individual score of 19 runs. Ishan Kishan came to bat and played well with Sharma. In 17th over Sharma got out after making 68 runs. Kieron Pollard joined Kishan but got out after making 9 runs, and Hardik Pandya also returned to the pavilion at an individual score of 3 runs only. However, the target was not left big and hence Krunal Pandya, and Ishan Kishan easily achieved it and defeated DC in the final match of the tournament. 

MI made 157 at a loss of 5 wickets in 18.4 overs only. From DC Anrich Nortje was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets. Trent Boult was declared as the player of the match for his excellent bowling performance of 3/30 in his spell of 4 overs. Jofra Archer from Rajasthan Royals was declared as the player of the tournament for his superb performance in bowling and batting.
