The 2nd match of the 3 matches T20 International series between New Zealand and West Indies was played on November 29, Sunday at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.  New Zealand team was leading the series of 3 matches by 1-0. It was a must-win match for visitors to keep the series interesting. West Indies won the toss and elected to field first.

Martin Guptill and Tim Seifert opened the inning for New Zealand. They gave an excellent start to the team and made 49 runs in 5.4 overs. Martin Guptill made 34 runs, and Tim Seifert made 18 runs. Conway came to bat at number 3 position. Glenn Phillips and Conway made record partnership for the 3rd wicket. They made a partnership of 184 runs. Glenn Phillips played a brilliant inning of 108 runs in just 51 balls. This was his maiden T20I century. He smashed 8 huge sixes, and he also broke the record of fastest T20 century by any Kiwi batsman in history. D Conway also played not out inning of 65 runs in 37 balls. New Zealand put a huge total of 238 runs in 1st inning. Oshane Thomas and Kieron Pollard took 1 wicket each for West Indies. It was a big target of 239 runs for West Indies to win the match.

Andre Fletcher and B King opened the inning for West Indies. B King got out on golden duck to Kyle Jamieson. Andre Fletcher got run out on 20 runs. West Indies team could not handle the pressure of the big run chase and made only 166 runs in 2nd inning. Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran disappointed again with the bat. Pooran also got out early on just 7 runs to Mitchell Santner, and Hetmyer made only 25 runs in 32 balls with a strike rate of 78.12. Kieron Pollard made most 28 runs for West Indies. It was a horrible performance by West Indies batting. Kyle Jamieson and Mitchell Santner took most 2 wickets each for New Zealand. New Zealand won the match by 72 runs.

The host also sealed the series with this win by 2-0. It was a complete team effort by the New Zealand team, and they dominated the match at every stage. Glenn Phillips was awarded as the player of the match for his brilliant record-breaking century. West Indies bowlers had no idea and no plan to bowl Glenn Phillips. He smashed 88 runs of his inning with boundaries and big shots.
