The 2nd test match of the 3 match West Indies tour of England series was held on July 16-20 of 2020, Wednesday at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. Joe Root was available for this match therefore England team was captained by Joe Root. West Indian captain Holder won the toss and chose to bowl first. Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran were in England playing in this match. It was really important for England to win this test match as West Indies was leading in the series by 1-0.

On batting first English opener D Sibley scored a brilliant century and made 120 runs. Ben Stokes also scored a brilliant Knock. He scored 176 runs and England declared their innings on huge total of 469 runs. For West Indies, K Brathwaite scored most 75 runs while Shamarh Brooks and Roston Chase also scored half centuries. West Indies team scored 287 runs in their 1st innings.

In 2nd innings, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler opened the inning for England. Buttler got out on duck but Stokes made brilliant not out 78 runs in just 57 balls. England declared their innings on 129 runs and gave a target of 312 runs to West Indies team.  

West Indian team collapsed badly and could not draw the match or chased the target. Shamarh Brooks scored 62 runs in 2nd inning and Jermaine Blackwood scored 55 runs for West Indies. Captain Holder also scored 35 runs but no other West Indian batsmen could make good runs. West Indian team got all out on just 198 runs and England team won the game by 113 runs on day 5.

England also levelled the series by this win. Broad took most 3 wickets in 2nd inning for England. Ben Stokes was awarded as player of the match for his brilliant all round performance in the match. He took 3 wickets and scored 254 runs in the match.
