Dominant Delhi emerge victorious against Punjab - The Kings XI Punjab and the Delhi Daredevils met each other in Delhi. This was the 31st match of the tournament. It was a northern derby of IPL. Punjab faced a poor run off form as they were lying in the bottom of the table while Delhi were emerging as the strong team giving a tough fight to the mid-table teams. After winning the toss in this match Delhi chose to field first.

Kings XI Punjab had a poor start to the game as Zaheer Khan the comeback man provided the breakthrough to the home team in the very 1st over taking the wicket of Virender Sehwag. It was a dream start for the home team. The 3nd over saw Jean Paul Duminy take the wicket of Shaun Marsh as Punjab found them at 6/2. Khan struck again in the 3rd over taking Manan Vohra thus reducing the team to a score of mere 10/3. This was not the end as Wriddhiman Saha too lost his wicket in the 4th over leaving his team at a score of 10/4. This was a poor start for Punjab. David Miller and George Bailey partnered to take the team out of trouble. This partnership didn’t last long as Bailey lost his wicket in the 8th over after scoring only 18 runs. Thisara Perera too didn’t do much as he lost his wicket in the 10th over leaving his team at 45/6. Miller and Axar Patel batted the overs out and took the team to a total of 102 where Patel lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs. Miller too lost his wicket after scoring 42 runs as Punjab was able to post a total of 118 runs.

Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Iyer batted responsibly while chasing a small score of 119 runs. They took the team to a score of 106 runs in 13th over. Here Iyer lost his wicket after scoring 54 runs while Agarwal continued the innings till the end to score 52 runs. With this the Punjab chased down the score of 119 runs in 14 overs. With this Delhi took the 4th position in table.

Nathan Coulter Nile was named as the man of the match while Iyer won the Yes Bank Maximum Sixes award. Iyer also was named as the HotStar of the match.
