Northern Districts Bowlers stop Central Districts to register their 3rd win - The 8th match of the Georgie Pie Super Smash Series was played between the Northern Districts and Central Districts. This match was played in the Seddon Park in Hamilton. The Northern Districts previously in their 3 matches had won 2 of their encounters while the Central Districts were yet to open their winning account in the tournament.

In the match after winning the toss the Northern Districts decided to bat first. while batting first the team had a tough time as both the openers lost their wicket early. The team struggled at a score of 32/2 in the 6th over of the innings. Dean Brownlie and Travis Birt then made all efforts to re-construct the innings back for the defending champions. The batsmen were successful as they together took their team to a total of 86 in just 11.3 overs. Brownlie then after scoring 35 runs lost his wicket bringing in Daryl Mitchell. He along with Birt played out rest of the innings for the team taking the score to a respectable total of 166. Birt scored 68 runs while Mitchell scored 35 runs. Ajaz Patel was the top bowler for the Central Districts as he took 2 wickets in the game.

Central Districts had all the chances of winning this game easily as the target was not a big one. the team got a slow start as they were able to score only 61 runs in 11 overs. During this process they also lost 3 top order wickets. it was this period of time when the Northern Districts made their way back into the game and it was all about Central Districts fighting it out to maintain the run rate. The team failed miserably in the process as too much was left for them to do in the end. They were able to score only 141 runs in 20 overs thus losing the match by 25 runs. with this win the Northern Districts were able to earn 4 more points to add into their tally.
