Kolkata Knight Riders makes it way to the final of Champions League - After a gruelling Group stage of the Oppo Champions League T20 2014 the tournament moved forward to the semi-finals. The 1st semi-final of the tournament was played between the undisputed team of the tournament Kolkata Knight Riders and Hobart Hurricanes. This match was played in the city of Hyderabad and a win it would have meant a final berth. The Knight Riders held the key as they were still a tough nut to crack by any team. After winning the toss the Hobart Hurricanes elected to bat first.

Batting first the Hurricanes lost 2 quick wickets at the start which put them in the back foot. Dom Michael and Aiden Blizzard were the two batsmen which lost their wickets after failing to score a single run in the match. Later Ben Dunk and Shoaib Malik controlled the innings and scored some vital runs for the team. Dunk scored 39 runs before losing his wicket in the 9th over of the game. The runs were coming slow for the team as they were finding it difficult to score against the spin. Travis Brit scored 13 runs and lost his wicket in the 14th over leaving his team in a position of 77/4. The team failed to score runs but Shoaib Malik was the player who made the difference. He scored 66 runs in 46 balls. He took his team to a score of 140. This was a target which was pretty low in this match.

The Knights started of their journey in the chase by losing its captain Gautam Gambhir in the 4th over of the match. Robin Uthappa and Jacques Kallis made sure that the fall of wicket ever affected their run rate and later Uthappa too lost his wicket in the 8th over of the match. He lost his wicket after 17 runs. Manish Pandey once again was the star for the team as he came in and scored 40 runs in 32 balls. He blasted through his innings and Kallis on the other hand played an anchor role in the match. Later Kallis scored 54 runs and thus made sure that his team crossed the mark and took his team to the final of the Champions League.

With this win the team extended their winning streak to a whopping 14 matches. They knocked out the Hobart Hurricanes and made its way to the final to meet the winner of the 2nd semi-final. Shoaib Malik was named as the Suzuki Gixxer Power player of the match for hitting maximum sixes while Kallis was named the Oppo Man of the match for guiding his team home. Both the players won USD 2500 as prize money.
