Spinners help Kolkata Knight Riders win the game against Lahore Lions - The 7th match of the Oppo Champions League T20 2014 was one of a mega affair. It was for the first time an Indian Champion was meeting the champion from Pakistan. It was a match played between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lahore Lions. This was the second match of the day to be played in the Hyderabad. After winning the toss the Knights decided to field first.

Batting first the Lahore Lions made a good slid start. The opening pair of Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad got their team to a solid start. They together scored 50 runs for the first wicket. Jamshed was the first wicket to fall for Lahore as he was run out after scoring only 10 runs. The Spinners of the Knight riders made life difficult for the Lions as they found difficult to score against Narine & CO. the wickets started to tumble as the team found themselves at 103/6 after 15.3 overs. Ahmed Shehzad was the top scorer as he scored 59 runs in 42 balls. The last 4.3 overs saw the team score 48 runs. With this the team reached a score of 151 runs. Umar Akmal played a great knock of 40 runs in 24 balls. This innings helped the team to reach a respectable score. Sunil Narine was the outstanding bowler once again as he took 3 wickets giving away runs at an economy of 2.25.

The Kolkata Knight Riders needed a good start and it was provided on by the captain Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa. They together scored a century run stand for the 1st wicket. Robin after scoring 46 runs lost his wicket when he was bowled out by Adnan Rasool. It seemed the 1st wicket came late but soon the Lions struck twice taking the important wicket of Gautam Gambhir. He lost his wicket after scoring 60 runs off 47 balls. After cruising through the innings the Indian champions found themselves in trouble at 115/3. The trouble continued for the home side as they lost many wickets in the end. It was Suryakumar Yadav who managed to take his team home by scoring 14 runs in 5 balls. Aizaz Cheema took 2 wickets in the game for Lahore Lions.

With this win the Kolkata Knight Riders not only earned 4 points in the tournament but also stretched their unbeaten streak to 11 games. Ahmed Shehzad won the Suzuki Gixxer Power player award of USD 2500 for hitting the maximum number of sixes in the match. Sunil Narine won the Oppo Man of the match award of USD 2500 for his outstanding bowling performance.
