Pakistan wins a rain hit match with some great batting performance - The Pakistan team after losing the test series in the island country of Sri Lanka started of their ODI campaign in the Mahinda Rajapaksa International stadium. It was a match which saw a delayed start due to some rainfall. This delay in the match also caused it to be reduced by 5 overs each a side. After winning the toss the Pakistan team decided to field first. The home team didn’t get a good start from their batsmen as they lost 3 early wickets. Upul Tharanga scored 18 runs while the dangerous Tillakaratne Dilshan scored only 6 runs. Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene were rebuilding the innings when Sangakkara after scoring 25 runs list his wicket. Later it was Angelo Mathews who joined hands with Jayawardene to fight it out. Jayawardene was run out after he scored 63 runs. Ashan Priyanjan scored 39 runs off 15 balls to give his team the edge in the final overs. Angelo Mathews was the highest scorer who scored 89 runs who took the team to a score of 275 runs. Wahab Riaz took 3 wickets in the match.

In the second innings the Pakistan too didn’t get a good start. They lost 2 wickets in just 11 overs at a score of 47. It included the important wicket of Younis Khan who scored only 3 runs. Umar Akmal and Misbah-ul-Haq was not able to score much as they scored 15 and 13 runs respectively. Ahmed Shehzad was the only top order batsman who scored 49 runs. The whole team was at a score of 106/5 and it seemed the game was almost over. Fawad Alam and Sohaib Maqsood controlled the innings well as they batted out brilliantly. They scored 62 and 89 runs respectively and managed to take their team closer to victory. The team won the match with 4 wickets in hand and just 1 ball remaining. Sohaib Maqsood was named as the man of the match for his batting performance. Now the Pakistan team leads the 3 match series by 1-0.
