South Africans Hold Their Nerves To Win Over England

England faced South Africa in a must win match in Chittagong. If it is assumed that England will beat Netherland in their next group match then it is nothing less than a quarterfinal match. England started favourites in the match and won the toss decided to field first. The South Africans went for an amazing start as the openers added 90 runs in just 10.5 overs when Amla fell. De Villiers carried on from where he left and scored a blazing 69 off just 28 balls. The team put on 196 runs on board in 20 overs. The English bowling looked weak as none bowler was able to control the flow of runs.

Chasing the mammoth score Hales the star of the previous match scored 38 off 22 balls. He fell in the 8th over leaving England 2/73. Bopara and Butler played an important role in keeping the game alive. Bopara made sure that while chasing his team never choked for runs. Before getting out he scored 31 off 18 balls and made sure his team was in touching distance. It was Bresnan who brought life in the match. With two sixes and one four Bresnan scored 17 off just 4 balls but that was not enough for England’s victory as they fell 3 run short of the target. De Villiers was elected the man of the match for his fiery knock that ensured the mammoth total.
