Lankans Bowler Humiliated The Dutch To Register Their 2nd Win

Netherlands played Sri Lanka in their 1st match of the super 10 stage of WT20 in Chittagong. After a splendid performance in the 1st round the Dutch were expected to show a good play against the eight test playing nations. The Lankans after having won the toss made the Dutch bat first. Just at the start of play four of the Netherlands players were back in the pavilion before the team total could have reached the double figure mark. What followed was even worse, no batsmen showed any resistance to the bowling attack led by Malinga & co. Five batsmen failed to score a single run as the team was bowled out at a score of 39. Mathews and Mendis took 3 wickets each for Sri Lanka while the vice-captain Malinga took 2 wickets.

The match became a piece of cake for the Lankans and they chased down the score in just 5 overs with losing one wicket, thus winning the match with 90 balls to spare. With this win the Lankans registered their second win in the super 10 stage of the tournament. Mathews was declared the man of the match for his wonderful bowling performance taking 3 wickets giving away 16 runs in his spell. After a humiliating loss it will be interesting to see whether the Dutch will able to bounce back in the tournament again?
