Performance of Netherlands Team in T20 World Cup
Netherlands was placed in the group B along with England and Pakistan in the year 2009. The group was tough but nether lands fought well and produce one of the biggest upsets of the tournament. They defeated England by 4 wickets but lost to Pakistan by 82 runs. In fact, the target of 175 set by the Pakistani team proved to be too tough for the Netherland batsmen. They wilted under pressure and the innings folded into 93 runs. Netherlands couldn’t progress to the next stage due to lower run rate however they left an everlasting impression on the tournament.
The team participated in the 5th edition of the tournament in 2014 and it was clubbed in group B along with Zimbabwe, Ireland and UAE. Netherlands played 3 matches and won 2 of them. It defeated UAE by 6 wickets and also thumbed IRISH team by identical margin however lots to Zimbabwe by 5 wickets. The Irish team swept into the super10 stage of the game based on the run rate. In super 10 stage, it played 4 matches and lost 3 of them but was able to notch a solitary win over England. The minnows defeated the giant by 45 runs and like 2009 repeated the feat.
