A Rain hit final saw Barbados win the tournament - Barbados Tridents after qualifying as the top team from the group’s stage qualified directly to the final of the tournament while Guyana Amazon Warriors qualified after beating the defending champions Jamaica Tallawahs in a semi-final. While in the final the rain was always a threat to the match and so after winning the toss the Warriors decided to field first. They got off to a great start as they were successful in taking the first 2 wickets in 3 overs. William Perkins and Jason Holder both got out at 0. Dwayne Smith and Shoaib Malik controlled the team and didn’t let them fall apart as both the players had an 88 run partnership between them. Dwayne Smith after scoring 59 runs lost his wicket in the 13th over. This breakthrough for the warriors was provided by Sunil Narine. This breakthrough gave a great opportunity as wickets yet again started to fall down but Malik was the lone player fighting it out. Malik remained unbeaten after scoring 55 runs and taking his team to 152 runs in 20 overs. Krishmar Santioke took 3 wickets while Sunil Narine took 2 wickets in the match.

After two times rain intervention in the 1st innings yet again rain played its part in the start of 2nd innings. After a long break the innings started off with Martin Guptill lost his wicket cheaply in the 3rd over of the innings. Lendl Simmons and Mohammad Hafeez tried to build the innings but Simmons after scoring 20 runs lost his wicket in the 9th over leaving his team at 49/2. Jimmy Neesham and Hafeez took on from where Simmons left but yet again Tridents struck back by taking the wicket of Hafeez in the 13th over. In the same over Neesham after scoring 17 runs lost his wicket leaving his team at a score of 76/4. Denesh Ramdin and Christopher Barnwell scored some quick runs scoring 107 runs in 15.5 overs. It was this time when rain which came down and stopped the match. Thus at the end the target was reduced to 116 in 15.5 overs and thus Amazon Warriors lost the game by 8 runs due to rain. Shoaib Malik won the man of the match as Tridents were crowned as the champions of the CPL 2014.
