It was not a good time for McKay until 2009 where he broke through at a state level tournament, In which he was the key player who took the team to its victory. He picked a Five wicket haul and 3 for 35 with a 21.42 average at the finals of the shield cup against Tasmania at. He is the best suited for the limited over cricket but he still faces a lot of competition for his place in the team. Apart from being a Bowler where he takes wickets or 2 in the middle overs. He also is so confident in the way of his batting taking crucial runs and take his team over the rope. His successful career best was 6 for 75 against Australia. Put into the inaugural champions trophy he was the leading wicket taker took 10 wickets 2010 and carrying the same form for Australia which was the SOS call from the team to put him to support the injury hit side. With his experience and lot of work on the field and off the field should guide the young players to bring out the best in their career.
