The 3rd or last match of the T20 International series between South Africa and Australia was played on February 26, Wednesday at Newlands Cricket Ground, in South Africa. This match was the series-deciding match, and so it was expected that both the teams will give best to win the series. South African skipper Quinton De Kock won the toss and elected to field first.
Australian openers Finch and Warner gave an explosive, speedy and solid start to the team and made 120 runs for the 1st wicket in just 11 overs. Captain Finch and Warner both scored half-century with 55 and 57 runs respectively. Steven Smith played a not out 30 runs inning in only 15 balls and helped the team to get a total of 193 runs in 20 over. T. Shamshi was the most economical bowler for South Africa in this match. He gave 25 runs in his 4 over and took 1 crucial wicket of captain Finch.
Chasing 194 against Australian team in the series final was not easy, but South African team was playing at their home. Hence it was expected that South African team will chase down the target and will win the series. But Australian bowlers showed their experience and bowled at a perfect length. South African captain Quinton De Kock failed to score good runs and got out early on just 5 runs in 3 balls. Australian bowlers bowled in the right areas and dominated the match. Faf Du Plessis also got out early on just 5 runs in 7 balls. R Van Der scored the most 24 runs while H Klassen scored 22 runs for South Africa. South African team got all out on 96 in just 15 over.
Australian team won the match and series too. Australian team won the match by 97 runs. M.Starc took the most 3 wickets and was selected as the player of the match.
