The 3rd or last match of the 3 matches One Day International series between Sri Lankan team and West Indies was on March 1, Sunday at Pallekele. Sri Lankan team was leading by 2-0 in this series, and it was a chance for Sri Lankan team to whitewash West Indies team.  Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first.

Sri Lankan openers gave a good start to the team and made an opening partnership of 60 runs. Captain Karunaratne scored 44 runs. Kusal Parera also scored 44 runs. Kusal Mendis scored the most 55 runs for Sri Lankan team while De Silva also scored a half-century and made 51 runs. Sri Lankan team made a total of 307 runs in their 50 over. Alzarri Joseph for West Indies took most 4 wickets while Jason Holder took 2 wickets.

Chasing 308 was not easy, but also it was the last chance for West Indies team, and therefore, it was expected that West Indies would chase the target. West Indies' openers gave a brilliant start to the team and made an opening partnership of 111 runs. Both the openers scored a half-century. Shai Hope scored 72 runs while Ambris scored 60 runs. N Pooran also scored a half-century and made 50 runs. Captain Pollard also played brilliant innings and left 1 run short for a half-century. He scored 49 runs. West Indies lower-order batsmen failed to score good runs, and West Indies could only make 301 runs in their 50 over. 

Sri Lanka won the game by 6 runs and whitewash West Indies team and won the series by 3-0. Angelo Mathews took most 4 wickets for Sri Lanka. Angelo Mathews was selected as player of the match for his brilliant bowling performance. Captain looked very happy with the team’s clinical performance and congratulated the mates.
