The 3rd and final test match of the 3 match Pakistan tour of England Test series was held on August 21 of 2020, Friday at Southampton. England team was leading the series by 1-0 and it was the last match of the series so it was very important for Pakistan team to win the match to draw the series.
English skipper Joe Root won the toss and elected to bat first. The first innings show was stole by English batsman Z Crawley. He scored brilliant double century and played beautiful innings of 267 runs for England. Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler also made a century and scored 152 runs while Chris Woakes also made 40 runs and England declared their innings on a huge total of 583 runs. Shaheen Afridi, Yasir Shah and Fawad Alam took 2 wickets each for Pakistan.
Pakistan lost their both openers on 11. It was a beautiful bowling performance with the new ball of England seam bowlers. Pakistani skipper Azhar Ali fought till the last ball of the inning and scored a brilliant century. He made not out 141 runs. M Rizwan also played an inning of 53 runs. Pakistan team got all out on 273 runs. James Anderson took 5 wickets for England. English team gave follow on to Pakistan. Pakistan openers gave a start of 49 runs to team in 2nd inning. Azhar Ali got out early on 31 runs but Babar Azam played a not out inning of 63 runs and the Pakistan was on 187/4 after 83 over in 2nd inning and the match was drawn.
Zak Crawley was awarded as player of the match for his brilliant batting performance. His 267 runs gave a solid position and dominance to England in the match. Azhar Ali’s performance helped Pakistan to draw the match but England won the series by 1-0.
