Chennai defends a low score against Kolkata to go on top of the table - The 28th match of the Indian Premiere League was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. This match was played in Chennai as the yellow brigade has a great home record against all teams on this ground hence were favorites to win it. The KKR on the other hand has won many matches on this ground which includes the final win. In this match after winning the toss KKR decided to field first.

Batting first Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum gave the team a start of 42 runs in 4.4 overs. McCullum was the first one to lose his wicket in the 5th over. He scored 19 runs before losing his wicket. he was the 1st victim of Piyush Chawla. Later Smith too lost his wicket in the 9th over after scoring 25 runs. the KKR team was able to put a lid on the flow of runs as they restricted the team from scoring free runs. Suresh Raina was next to losing his wicket after scoring only 17 runs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni too didn’t do much for the team as he scored only 3 runs and lost his wicket. the bowlers had a real merry as they took the wicket of Dwayne Bravo to restrict the team at 88/5 in 13 overs. It seemed that the bowlers will be going on all-out attack. CSK managed to score 134 runs as Faf Du Plessis scored 29 runs in 29 balls.

This was a great achievement by the bowlers as they were able to stop the CSK at a score of 134. Now the batsmen needed to click and score the runs inured to win it. Gautam Gambhir lost his wicket the 1st ball he faces and thus giving the team a bad star. Robin Uthappa was looking in great touch as he scored 39 runs off 17 balls. As he was in a great touch he lost his wicket in the 6th over leaving the team at a score of 52/2. Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav were in the middle and all the eyes were on them. Pandey lost his wicket after scoring 15 runs while Yadav lost his wicket scoring only 16 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin changed the game for CSK as he took 2 wickets giving them the momentum. The CSK team came hard on the KKR and took wickets at regular intervals leaving Ryan ten Doeschate a lot to do. He scored 38 runs off 28 balls but it was not enough as KKR were able to score only 132 runs thus losing the match by 2 runs.

Dwayne Bravo was named as the man of the match for his outstanding bowling performance taking 3 wickets. Ryan won the Yes Bank Maximum Sixes award.
