Mumbai register their 1st win of the tournament in Bangalore - The 2nd match of the day in the Indian Premiere League was played in the city of Bengaluru. In the 16th match of the tournament Royal Challengers Bangalore were taking on the challenge from the Mumbai Indians. Mumbai have lost all their games in the season and were looking badly to bounce back in the tournament. After winning the toss the home team decided to field first.

The opening pair of Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel gave Mumbai a start of 47 runs in 5.5 overs. Parthiv in this partnership scored 12 runs before getting out bold by David Wiese. Unmukt Chand the young batsmen came into bat with Simmons as these two paired well to score 119 runs for the 2nd wicket. Simmons after scoring 59 runs lost his wicket while Chand continued to score runs easily. He scored 58 runs in 37 balls in the match to give the team a good solid base. Rohit Sharma made full use of the start provided to him as he scored 42 runs off 15 balls. His small little innings helped the Mumbai Indians score 209 runs while batting first. The lower order failed to do much as the last few deliveries went good for the Bangalore side.

The Royal Challengers had a tough total to chase and it got even worse as Harbhajan Singh and company made early dents in the batting line up. Chris Gayle and Manvinder Bisla lost their wickets early. Both the batsmen were bowled by Singh. Virat Kohli too didn’t do much help for the team as he scored only 18 runs before losing his wicket. Dinesh Karthik too failed yet again in an IPL match as he too scored only 18 runs. The game changed when AB de Villiers and David Wiese came into bat. Both the batsmen were scoring runs at will. AB scored 41 runs off 11 balls while Wiese scored 47 off 25 balls to take them near to the total. This partnership helped the team but Mumbai managed to hold them up as they stopped the wagon to only 191 runs. At the end it was an 18 run win for the team. It was their 1st win the tournament.

Harbhajan Singh was named as the man of the match while Rohit Sharma won the Yes Bank Maximum Sixes award.
