Cape Cobras win it in the Super Over against Tridents - The 12th match of the Oppo Champions League was played between the Caribbean Champions Barbados Tridents and the Cape Cobras. This was a group B match and both the teams were looking for a win in the match as that would have been a good help for them for taking them in the next round. After winning the toss the Cape Cobras decided to field first.

Batting first the tridents lost starting 2 wickets pretty early. Shane Dowrich lost his wicket without scoring a single run. Raymon Reifer scored only 1 run in the innings before leaving his team at a score of 7/2 in just 2.2 overs. The Tridents saw a defining partnership between Dilshan Munaweera and Jonathan Carter. They together took the team to a score of 82 in just 11 overs. This partnership managed to setup an innings for the Tridents. In the last ball of the 11th over Munaweera was run out after scoring 42 runs in the innings. After his departure it was a single man show as Carter scored 111 runs and took his team to a score of 174 in 20 overs. Sybrand Engelbrecht was the top bowler as he took 2 wickets giving away runs at an economy of 6 runs per over.

Cape Cobras needed a good start and the openers gave them a start scoring 56 runs in just 4.5 overs. Richard Levi scored 39 runs before losing the wicket in the 5th over. Later Hashim Amla and Omphile Ramela joined Hashim Amla in scoring some important runs. They together took the team to 99 runs in 10.5 overs. Ramela lost his wicket scoring only 14 runs. Hashim Amla scored 59 runs in 62 balls and left his team at a score of 126 in 15th over. The match stood at a good position as the score was quite reachable. At the end Justin Kemp and Sybrand Engelbrecht at the end managed to give a good end. They managed to tie the score in 20 overs. Jeevan Mendis took 4 wickets in the innings and was the best bowler for the team.

The tied scored led the match to a super over first for the Champions League T20 2014. Cobras batted first in the eliminator over where they scored 11 runs in one over of Ravi Rampaul. On the other hand the Tridents needed a last ball boundary to win the match but they failed to do so and ended up scoring only 10 runs in the eliminator thus Cape Cobras won the match and earned all-important 4 points. Jonathan Carter won the Suzuki Gixxer award for most sixes in the match winning USD 2500 as prize money. Sybrand Engelbrecht won the Oppo man of the match award and he too won USD 2500 as prize money.
