England will be touring India for an epic 3 match one day series scheduled to be played from Jan 15, 2017. Both teams are well balanced but how well the English team may perform in sub continental condition is still to be seen in perspective. Spinning combo of Ashwin and Jadeja would be testing the likes of hales and Morgan. Although the latter has played in IPL, one day international is altogether a different kettle of fish. From the host’s point of view, Dhawan and Rohit will be opening the batting as they have a checkered history of notching up big scores.
Followed by Virat Kohli, the opposition bowling led by Ben stokes will find it extremely difficult to contain the Indian batting line up. Lower down the order, Ashwin can bat well and score quickly if the chips are down. If Manish Pandey is included in the squad, he can bolster the middle order as well as the wicket keeping position.
England needs to take early wickets and with off spinner Moin Ali at the top his game, it is not unlikely. He is also a useful middle order batsman with the capability to deliver lusty blows at the end of the innings. In addition, the English batsmen have to move their fete more often in order to tackle the slow spin bowling of the hosts. Joe Root has to don the mettle of the sheet anchor role so that the tourists can notch up big scores.
Indian team is reputed to chase the biggest totals; therefore English bowlers need to be very tight in terms of line and length preventing the batsmen to run away with the game. In swinging Yorkers right at the end of the inning would go a long way in preventing the host batsmen to post huge totals.
