Udarata Rulers lose the finals because of epic fall in the lower order - The UltraTech Cement super 4’s Twenty 20 tournaments final had two best teams of the tournament. Udarata Rulers who topped the group reached the finals directly while the Southern Express reached the finals after eliminating the Western Troopers in the Eliminator. The Rulers won the toss and elected to field first. The Express got a great start from the openers scoring 59 runs in 7 overs. Soon both the openers were sent back to pavilion as the Rulers made a comeback in the match. At the score of 64 the team lost 2 wickets. Jehan Mubarak was the top scorer for the team as he scored 34 runs in 29 balls. Team scored 161 runs in the finals of the tournament. Ajantha Mendis and Asela Gunaratne tool 3 wickets each in the innings.

Chasing a good score is a challenge in a final of any tournament. Shehan Jayasuriya and Upul Tharanga gave their team a great start as they scored 95 runs in 10 overs. The win looked eminent for the Rulers. Tharanga top scored for the team scoring 62 runs in 37 balls. Soon the game changed as the Rulers lost the wickets drastically. The last 6 wickets of the team was lost scoring only 12 runs thus this failure in the middle order resulted in a loss as they scored only 157 runs. Thus the Southern Express won the match by 4 runs. Sachith Pathirana was the top wicket taker for the team. He was also named as the man of the match. Seekkuge Prasanna was named as the man of the series for the tournament.
