The Guyana Amazon warriors emerge as winners in a high scoring match - The Guyana Amazon Warriors met the Antigua Hawksbills in the 22nd match of the Caribbean Premiere League. The Hawksbills in their 7 matches has failed to win a single match in the tournament. The Hawksbills won the toss and elected to field first. In the 1st 6 overs of the game the Warriors lost 2 wickets which included the wicket of Lendl Simmons. This was the match which saw the comeback of the dangerous player Martin Guptill. He after a failed batting performance in the tournament batted the way world knows him. He played an innings of 90 runs in 51 balls. Later Denesh Ramdin scored 51 runs in 34 balls while Christopher Barnwell scored 37 runs in 20 balls. These three batsmen together made sure that their team reached the highest team total of the tournament. They scored 212 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Sheldon Cottrell was the most economical bowler for the Hawksbills as he gave away only 28 runs in 4 overs taking 1 wicket.

The Antigua Hawksbills had an out of form batting order and it reflected as the first 3 wickets for the team fell in the first 6 overs. Later Marlon Samuels and Orlando Peters set the stage on fire. Both the players played some great shots to bring in tension in the Warriors camp. Samuels played an innings of 106 runs in just 52 balls. In his innings he crossed the boundary 18 times which included 10 4’s and 8 6’s. On the other hand Peters played a knock 0f 67 runs in 45 balls. This effort was not enough for the Hawksbills as the team was able to score only 193 runs after 20 overs thus losing the match by 19 runs. Sunil Narine was the best bowler for the team as he gave away only 16 runs in his 4 overs. Martin Guptill was named as the man of the match for his brilliant batting display.
