Debutant T Natarajan and Washington Sundar took 3 wickets each for India. Indian team made 336 runs in 1st inning. Shardul Thakur scored most 67 runs and Washington Sundar made 62 runs for India. Australia made 294 runs in 2nd inning and it was a target of 328 runs for India to win the match and the series. Shubman Gill played a brilliant inning for India and made 91 runs in 2nd inning. C Pujara also made 56 runs. Rishabh Pant made not out 89 runs and finished the game for India. India won the match by 3 wickets and won the series by 2-1.
Rishabh Pant was selected as the player of the match. Pat Cummins was awarded as the player of the series. Indian team retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
