Australia vs India T20 Series 2020


The 3 match T20 International series was played between Australia and India on December of 2020 in Australia. Indian team won the series by 2-1. Australian team was captained by Aaron Finch and Virat Kohli was the captain of Indian team.

The 1st match of the series was held on December 4, 2020 at Manuka Oval. Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bowl first. KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan opened the inning for India. Shikhar Dhawan failed to give good start to team and got out early on just 1 run to Mitchell Starc. Skipper Virat Kohli also got out early on just 9 runs to Mitchell Swepson. Indian team was struggling at 48/2 after 7 overs. Sanju Samson and KL Rahul played good inning and made a partnership of 40 runs for 3rd wicket.  KL Rahul scored most 51 runs for India. R Jadeja finished the Indian inning in style and played not out 44 runs inning in just 23 balls. He shifted the momentum of game. He got injured by Mitchell Starc in the last over of the inning. India made 161 runs in 1st inning. Yuzi Chahal came as concussion of R Jadeja in 2nd inning for India. Chahal changed the game for India and took 3 important wickets. Indian team defended the target and won the match by 11 runs. T Natarajan and Y Chahal took 3 wickets each for India. D’Arcy Short scored most 35 runs for Australia. Y Chahal was selected as the player of the match.

The 2nd match of the series was held on December 6, Sunday at Sydney Cricket Ground. Aaron Finch was not available in the match therefore Matthew Wade was appointed as Australian captain. Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. Matthew Wade opened the inning for Australia and gave brilliant start to the team. Wade scored 58 runs in just 32 balls. Steven Smith also made 46 runs for Australia. Australia made 194 runs in their 20 overs. T Natarjan bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets by giving only 20 runs in his 4 overs. It was a target of 195 runs for India to seal the series. Dhawan gave dreamy start to team and made 52 runs in 36 balls. Virat Kohli also made 40 runs in 24 balls but Hardik Pandya finished the game for India. He scored not out 42 runs in 22 balls. India chased the target and won the match by 6 wickets and 2 balls to spare. Hardik Pandya was selected as player of the match.

The 3rd or last match of the series was played on December 8, Tuesday at SCG. Finch was available and handled the captaincy. India won the toss and elected to field first. Matthew wade played brilliant inning of 80 runs and Glenn Maxwell also made 54 runs for Australia. Australia made 186 runs in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored most 85 runs in 61 balls for India but could not finish the game for his team. Australia managed to win the match 12 runs. Indian team won the series by 2-1. Hardik Pandya was selected as player of the series for his contribution in series victory.
