Sri Lanka Spins Their Way Into The Semis Of WT20

New Zealand and Sri Lanka faced each other in their final group match which was nothing less than a quarter-final as the team winning the match will get the ticket to the semi-final. New Zealand after having won the toss elected to field first. The spirited bowlers of New Zealand gave a spirited performance and caused all troubles for the opposition. The highest scorer for the Lankans was their senior most batsmen Jayawardene who scored 25 runs off 32 balls. Sri Lanka posted only 119 runs before getting bowled out.Boult and Neeshan were pick of the bowler for the kiwis as they took 3 wickets each.

The Lankans had a steep wall to climb as defending a score of 120 is a tough task. Herath the slow left arm orthodox bowler made the tough task look very simple as in his 3.3 overs spell he managed to take 5 wickets giving away only 3 runs. The Kiwis fell for a mere 60 runs thus making way for the Lankans to the semi-finals of the WT20. Only one of the kiwi batsmen was able to enter the double figures as Williamson scored 42 runs and no other player was able to go past the double figures. Herath was rightly selected the player for the match as he guided his nation to the semis of the tournament and he spinned kiwis out of the tournament.
