A poor performance by Bangladesh gives West Indies the 2 points

The Host nation takes the defending champions of WT20 in their first match of the super 10 stage. West Indies after having lost their first match against India wanted to get their winning ways on course while the host nation wanted to win it for the people of Bangladesh. The hosts won the toss and elected to field first. The West Indies openers added 97 runs together before smith fell in the 12th over of the innings. With this opening stand the defending champions looked well on course for a huge score.  But a middle order collapse saw them just post a score of 171. The highest scorer from their side was Smith who scored 72 off just 43 balls. Amin Hossain the Bangladeshi bowler registered 3 wickets in his name.

Target of 171 was a fighting total under these conditions but the home side failed to provide any resistance to the bowling of West Indies and thus the whole side was bowled out cheaply under 100. The Bangladeshi batsmen managed only to score 98 runs which were very disappointing for the home fans. Badree became the star bowler for the defending champion as he took 4 wickets giving away just 15 runs. D. Smith was named as the player of the match for his knock of 72.
