The Otago Volts are simply known as Volts. The Volts are two time winner of the HRV cup. In fact they were the ones who won the HRV cup last year. To top that, they are also thirteen time winners of the Shell Trophy or the State Championship. They have even won the State Shield twice. Overall the Volts are a legendary team which makes them one of the strongest contenders of the HRV Cup 2014.

The Wellington Firebirds are no less. They have Stephen Murdoch as their captain and Jamie Siddons as their coach. They have a long list of wins too. They are twenty times winner of the Shell Trophy or the State Championship. They have also won the Ford Trophy six times. They have played well in the previous HRV series too. Their league of batsmen, bowlers, all rounders and wicket keepers can give a strong competition to the Otago Volts.
