Sri Lanka Super Four T20 2014 Cricket Tournament Schedule

Southern Express crowned as the champions of Sri Lanka’s Domestic T20 tournament - UltraTech Cement Super 4’s Twenty 20 tournament is a domestic tournament of Sri Lanka cricket where four teams play for the ultimate glory in the T20 field. The four teams that participate in the tournament are Udarata Rulers, Southern Express, Western Troopers and Yaal Blazers. The tournament saw each team play against each other once. The winning team was awarded 2 points and the top team was to qualify for the finals while second and third spot teams were to face each other in the Eliminator. Western Troopers and Yaal Blazers met in the first match of the tournament. The troopers won the match to achieve 2 points. The second match saw Udarata Rulers win the the game. The second day of the tournament saw Rulers and troopers come face to face against each other. Thanks to some great batting display from the Rulers they achieved 2 points in the game. While the match between Blazers and express was called off due to rain.

The 5th and 6th group match was called off due to rain. The points were shared between the teams and this resulted in the elimination of Yaal Blazers from the tournament while Udarata Rulers qualified for the finals directly. The Western Troopers and Southern Express met in the eliminator of the tournament. In the match some late batting display from the lower order of the Southern Express team helped them qualify to the finals of the tournament. The finals saw Udarata Rulers field first. The Express managed to score 161 runs. The Rulers managed to have a great start scoring 95 runs in 10 overs. But soon the rest of the team collapsed and a match that was in the hands of the Rulers was lost. The Express won the match and the tournament and were crowned as the champions. Upul Tharanga was the top scorer in the tournament while Asela Gunaratne was the highest wicket taker in the tournament. Seekkuge Prasanna was the player of the series in for his all-round performance.
